  • We believe that the understanding of the composer’s vision for the song is very important. Before proceeding towards EQ, compressing or adding elements to a mix, it’s important to understand the kind of sound one would like to inculcate in the song.
  • Commercial projects & digital ad films can be very different from independent music production.
  • Understanding the balance of voice-over, dialogues, music & SFX in an advertisement is very important. Since the major playback medium for advertisements would be small speakers such as phones, TV inbuilt speakers & laptops, the approach to mix and master changes entirely.
  • When mixing & mastering for cinema or commercial music, the desired sound depends entirely on the genre of film.
  • Some songs in the film would require a louder and brighter approach while some songs would require a darker, much softer approach.
  • In today’s day and age independent music has been growing at great speed.
  • The impact that independent artists have on the audience is tremendous.
  • From hip-hop to jazz, rock, metal and pop, independent music has it all.
  • Approaching a mix for different artist of different genres, is what this topic is all about.
  • Background Music in films is what makes the emotions come through much better and much more transparently.
  • Pre-mix or stereo mixing & mastering for Background Music will decide the tones and moods of the sound spectrum, before it goes to 5.1, 7.1, or an Atmos film mix.
  • Creative sound design to make the mix more interesting, adding ear-candy moments for the audience to hum along for days is something every composer loves to do.
  • On the last day of the workshop, we will learn how to master loudness standards for different platforms, and delivering files to the distribution companies accordingly is what we’ll cover and learn about.
